Of all the things I might change in the game, artillery effectiveness would be near the last. From long term observation, artillery effectiveness feels about right, or even a tiny bit too powerful.

Causing a retreat or rout may add as much as 30 points to the score, but I haven't tested that enough to be sure and the number varies. The number of victory points will not match the casualties as you get points for causing an enemy unit to retreat without orders or rout, and you lose points for your units doing the same.įrom casual observation, I've noticed that an individual canister round causes around 7 to 10 casualties. The game unfortunately does not report the number of casualties caused by each branch of the army. I only reported the casualty percentage caused by the grand battery alone, not every French cannon in the battle. 30% of 60% of the total casualties would be 18% of the total casualties if the 60% estimation is correct. The grand battery consisted of 80 guns, or about 30% of the total. Napoleon fielded about 250 cannons at Waterloo.
